This website aims to be a meeting point for doctors worldwide who practice endograft modification or wish to learn how to do it.

We want it to be a forum where experiences, tips, and the latest advancements can be shared to achieve the best results using this complex aortic repair technique.

We want to emphasize that we advocate for the responsible use of this technique, always in compliance with local regulations.

My history

I am Javier Río. I began my journey in vascular surgery more than 20 years ago at the Gregorio Marañon University Hospital in Madrid, and I have always been drawn to complex endovascular therapy of the aorta.

In 2019, thanks to the support of my hospital's 3D medical printing unit, we were able to carry out the first complex aortic repair in my country using a 3D-printed template to modify a conventional endograft. Since then, we have developed this technique at our center to fill an existing gap in the complex endovascular treatment of the aorta. Over the years, I have participated in numerous forums and workshops both to receive and provide training in a technique that I consider extremely useful and effective.

I hope you enjoy this website as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

The team

All great achievements require an exceptional team. I am incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful professionals who have helped me develop the technique of endoprosthesis modification as well as this website.

Surgeons like Fernando García-Boyano, Álvaro Moreno, Elena Menéndez, Elena Martín, Jorge del Valle, and Bea Galán, who are attentive to every detail, from correcting my oversights to taking a photo.

Anesthesiologists like Carmen Fernández, Alba Burgos, Consuelo Jimenez, Marilu Canal, and Patricia Duque: a great life-jacket for our patients

Nurses like Victoria and Marina, who always have everything ready before I even ask. Of course, my department head, José Manuel Ligero, who has trusted my ability to develop complex techniques in nearly impossible cases. Also thanks to Alejandro López, who developed this website.

And lastly, and most importantly, to my family (specially Maria and our 3  wonderful kids), who have always been a refuge where I can gather strength in difficult times.
